How does it feel to finally have your book out in the world?
“It honestly a little overwhelming, in the best way. Lost Heart of Erythia has been a part of me for so long that finally sharing it feels like handing over a piece of my heart. I’ve dreamed of this moment for years, and now that it’s real, it feels both surreal and deeply humbling. There’s this quiet joy that comes with knowing the story has finally found its way to others. It was a 5 year project, made when I was 14/15”.

What first inspired the story, was it a specific image, dream, or idea that sparked it?
“In the beginning I wanted a conflict where there was a source of magic. A power that controlled the magic of the land. I thought about two people at the time. Riku Kano and Kenti Seko, as the readers now know as Prince Wesley and Nolan. I began wondering what kind of world would depend on a heart like that, what it would mean if it started to die, and who would fight to bring it back. I wasn’t sure where it would lead me as I kept getting sick on chapter 7. Never could go past it for a while. I don’t want to spoil too much but as life went on and my mind matured I realized how the story should go”.
Tell us a bit about your world what makes it unique?
“Erythia is a world where magic is deeply emotional. It lives in the heart of its people, and when they begin to lose faith or hope, the magic fades too. I wanted it to feel beautiful but fragile, a place where every spell comes from something deeply human. The land itself feels memory and emotion, which makes it both haunting and alive. What makes Erythia special to me is how it mirrors the way we love and grieve in the real world. There’s things you normally wouldn’t see, and experiences a reader would be able to visualize, the magic of Erythia. The magic of the heart and how to turns the world alive”.
How would you describe your main characters?
“Wesley is an elf prince who has spent most of his life trying to be what everyone expects of him. He’s intelligent and gentle, but carries a lot of quiet guilt. In the story, he learns that bravery isn’t about perfection or power. It’s about finally choosing love over fear”.

What themes or emotions do you hope readers connect with most?
“I hope readers feel the heartbeat of forgiveness throughout this story. It’s about second chances, about learning to love even when the world tells you not to, and about finding beauty in what’s been broken. I want people to feel that even if everything falls apart, there’s still a way to heal and that love, in all its forms, is worth fighting for. Even if things are broken, they are still cherished and have a chance to become made anew. You’ll see that a lot when reading about Nolan“.
What was the biggest challenge you faced as a debut indie author?
“Learning to trust myself. Being an indie author means doing everything on your own, and it’s easy to fall into self-doubt. I had to remind myself over and over that it didn’t need to be perfect to be meaningful. There were nights I wanted to quit, but I kept coming back because I loved these characters too much to let them go. I’ve definitely had doubts, I’d see self published authors get so much attention right away and I wonder if I did something wrong. If my story isn’t go enough. If I wasn’t good enough of a writer. But I stayed because it’s my story to tell. And those who do read it will be able to experience the joy of Erythia and all the world has to offer”.

What’s been your favourite moment since publishing. This might be early reviews, reader reactions, holding your book for the first time?
“Holding the book for the first time. I still remember the moment I opened the box and saw the cover, it didn’t feel real. All the late nights, the rewrites, the doubts, it was worth it. But honestly, hearing from readers has been the most emotional part. When someone tells me they cried or saw themselves in Nolan or Wesley, I can’t even explain how much that means to me. I remember the first draft I had a proof copy of, it was 700 pages!! Now it’s 426, but I realized I had a lot of ways to go but it’s a relief to get a hang of things, to learn things and to experience things. It’s an honour to have my book in my own hands”.
What advice would you give to someone writing their first book?
“Write the story that won’t leave you alone. Don’t rush it, don’t compare it, and don’t let fear convince you it’s not good enough. The story doesn’t have to be perfect, at all, it just has to be yours. There’s so much power in simply finishing something that came from your heart. And having a great support system, even if it’s only a few people that match the number of fingers on your hand, it’ll do wonders. I have a great street team that helps guide me and be there through the doubts and the worries. It’s all that matters to me”.
Can you give us a little hint about what you’re working on next?
“I’m working on two projects right now. One is the second book in Lost Heart of Erythia, which will pick up where the first left off and dive deeper into the aftermath, the love, and the healing that still needs to happen.
The other is a slow-burn contemporary romance about forgiveness and second chances. It follows Wren Calloway, who returns to her hometown of Foxglove, and Levi Hart, the quiet train conductor who always seems to be there when she needs him most. What she doesn’t know is that he remembers her and the night that changed everything”.
It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know Heather better, finding out more about the mind behind these incredible stories and we can’t wait to see what’s coming next!
