Creating and writing a story takes weeks, months, years of dedication and this is an incredible achievement no matter which angle you look at it from. To be an Indie author and take matters completely into your own hands is another thing entirely... Here at Fable & Press we promote our love of Fantasy books specifically written by Indie authors. I wanted to create an award dedicated to you to give you the further recognition you deserve.
The Fable & Lore Awards is a virtual, yearly event open to Indie authors specifically within the Fantasy & Romantasy genre. There are six categories you can enter this year and there will be a winner selected from our judges for each.
The winners will be awarded our Fable & Lore Award and a selection of other amazing prizes which you can read more about below! There will also be a runner up 2nd place prize for each category.
So why enter?
Our awards are unique in their dedication to Indie Fantasy and Romantasy authors, this exclusivity makes you part of something new, fresh and magic!
Winners and short listers will be given extra visibility and exposure across our social media with features on our website, digital badges, certificates and entry content which is provided for use across your own social platforms and more.
We have a wonderful team of Fable & Press influencers who will be part of the judging and selection process, this is something we absolutely love as it brings your story to real readers who want to celebrate Indie talent.
The prizes?
First place in each category will be provided with a beautiful winners trophy, a custom certificate of your winning category for display on social media including digital versions, our Sapphire book promotion package, bookish prizes and on going exposure from our online presence and influencer team.
Second place in each category will be provided with a certificate of your winning category (2nd place) and the choice of our Quartz promotion package or mini cover reveal package.
Please note: If you are applying from outside the UK your winning prizes will be digitalized and bookish prizes provided in the form of gift cards.
There is a small entry fee, this goes towards the admin, prizes and organisation of the virtual event.

FAQs
IS THERE A FEE TO ENTER?
Yes, there is a £13 entry fee. When creating the awards I wanted the entry to be as accessible as possible for authors whilst still being able to provide prizes such as winners trophies, certificates, gifts and more. This fee also includes entry posts you will be provided with when you apply for use on your social media sites.
WHAT DO I NEED TO INCLUDE IN MY ENTRY?
When you purchase a category you will be sent an email right away which will include the following - Entry graphics for use on socials, information on the virtual event and how to access on the ceremony day and a linked form for you to complete in order to submit your entry. This will involve answering a few questions about yourself and your book and require you to upload either your book or if you are not comfortable with doing so a excerpt. - ARCs are also accepted. Please note: You will need to be happy with your book or excerpt being read by our small selection of selected judges who will have signed a E-document to state they will follow our terms and conditions of not sharing the book or excerpt with anyone else outside of the judges panel.
Is it uk only?
The Fable & Lore Awards is a UK based event however, you are welcome to enter if you are outside the UK due to the event being virtual. Please note that you may be viewing the ceremony the following day depending on your time zone and also that if you win a category your prizes wil be digitalized versions. E.G. Digital certificate and E-gift card. - Our promotional package prizes will go ahead as normal however, please allow for time difference in terms of contact hours and posting.
how do i access the event?
The event is virtual and recorded from the UK. You will be able to access the award ceremony video on YouTube and Instagram from 7pm on 2nd November 2026. A link will be emailed to you a week before the event.
how is the winner chosen?
Once the entry date has closed myself and small team (carefully selected from the Fable & Press Fantasy & Romantasy influencer team) will review your applications and work closely together to concoct a shortlist of applicants. You will then be contacted by us with your shortlist title and further information. We will then re-access the short listers and choose our first and second place winners in each category which will be announced on 2nd November 2026 with prizes being sent our shortly after. - Our judges have been carefully selected from real readers who are passionate about the Fantasy genre, who are highly followed and loved reviewers in the bookish Fantasy community and have Indie authors best interests at heart. - The judges will be announced on our socials soon.
will my work be kept safe?
All of our judges have signed an extensive and in-depth confidentiality agreement prior to having any access to author's applications. This is a mandatory step for all judges and stipulates that any material submitted by authors is kept strictly confidential between the judges only following GDPR and not sent or submitted to any AI program or app, to any external third parties or individuals. This is to ensure the integrity of the judging process and to of course and most importantly protect the author's hard work.
